The Manor Hotel in Exmouth has been sold to a new operator for an undisclosed sum.

The grade II-listed building, which has 28 bedrooms, has been acquired by hotelier Sam Surani, after its previous owners undertook extensive renovation works.

Over the past three years the hotel has moved from specialising in coach group holidays to catering exclusively for private leisure and business guests.

The property is believed to have been built in the late 1700s, making it one of the oldest-surviving buildings on The Beacon, near Exmouth esplanade.

Mr Surani, who previously owned the Broadway Hotel in Llandudno, North Wales, said: “We are excited to take over the Manor hotel in Exmouth and add value to the great historical building by providing an excellent guest experience.

“I would like to thank Stephen Champion for providing support and guidance throughout the process. I wish the previous owner good luck with their endeavours.”

Business advisory firm Christie & Co’s South West hotels team brokered the deal.

Director Stephen Champion said: “Buyer demand for quality hotels continues to stay high, with buyers identifying the South West tourism industry as a safe, long-term investment, with many businesses offering considerable opportunity for further growth.”
