Lloyds unveils major investment plans for city centre base

Banking group is planning to bolster the green credentials of its offices in Birmingham's business district

High street banking group Lloyds has announced plans to revamp its offices in Birmingham city centre to bolster the working environment and its green credentials.

It has outlined a list of designs for its home at 125 Colmore Row which include new fitness and event spaces, a café with workstations and collaboration spaces.

Among the green initiatives planned are replacing existing gas boilers with a heat pump system which it says will save approximately 1.8 million kWh of gas per year.

It is also aiming to reduce water consumption by around 60 per cent through the use of low-flow fixtures and fittings and smart water monitoring for ongoing leak detection.

Lloyds said its current projections showed that around 4.7 million litres of water could be saved per year - the equivalent to almost two Olympic swimming pools.

It is also installing 13 electric vehicle charging points and creating new cycling facilities and storage in a bid to promote and encourage active travel among staff.

Work is due to start early next year and be completed by summer 2025.
