A panel of 14 housing associations has been brought together by investment group Legal & General in a bid to build 3,500 affordable homes around the country.

The panel - which includes Newcastle’s Karbon Homes, London-based RHP and Optivo, and Flagship in East Anglia - has been announced after L&G received initial interest from 140 organisations.

L&G said the housing associations involved would be able to work around the country,

Agreements have been signed with RHP, Optivo, Jigsaw, Flagship, Karbon Homes, Great Places, Chelmer Housing Partnership, Accord, Pinnacle, Stonewater, Regenda, Sussex-based Saxon Weald, Coastline and Raven.

Ben Denton, managing director at Legal & General Affordable Homes, said: “After a rigorous tender process, focusing on the quality and customer service offering of 140 º£½ÇÊÓƵ-wide housing associations, we have now established an experienced panel of management partners.

“With residents already moving into our first schemes, this represents another milestone as we continue to pioneer the Institutional Registered Provider model. There is an urgent need to keep innovating in this sector and to provide quality, stable homes for the 1.1m households on waiting lists in England.”

Karbon Homes will work with L&G to deliver homes in the North East and Yorkshire.

Charlotte Carpenter, executive director of growth and business development at Karbon Homes said: “We are delighted to have been successfully chosen as one of Legal & General Affordable Homes’ delivery partners in the North East and Yorkshire.
