Leading charity Show Racism the Red Card (SRtRC) has announced it is to open a new office in the North West.

The charity, established in 1996, will add an office in the region to its existing footprint of sites in North Shields, Southend on Sea, Glasgow and Cardiff.

The office is to be located in either Liverpool or Manchester - and the move has support of the Metro Mayors of Manchester and Liverpool Andy Burnham and Steve Rotheram, as well as Cllr Matthew Brown, the leader of Preston City Council.

The charity looks to tackle racism in society through the delivery of educational workshops, training sessions, multimedia packages and a number of other resources.

SRtRC said it was proud to be able to re-invest in its infrastructure and expand to a fifth º£½ÇÊÓƵ office, which will be based in either Liverpool or Manchester.

The charity said it is now calling on firms and other organisations in the region to support it in setting up the new office.

Ged Grebby, chief executive at SRtRC, said: “We’re very happy to announce that we’re now able to set up our fifth º£½ÇÊÓƵ office in the North West of England. Thanks to the outstanding support of the public, we’ve been able to find the means to increase our capacity and continue reaching further. We’re now calling on schools, sporting clubs, companies and other organisations in the North West to support us in setting up this new office.

“We aim to have the office set up by December 2020 and recruit sessional education workers in the region to help deliver our anti-racism education programme. A job advert for a North West manager is now on our website. However, to help the new team hit the ground running, we are calling on all organisations and individuals who want to help to get in touch."
