A new multi-million pound private hospital will launch in Birmingham in September, bringing with it 200 healthcare jobs and a specialist rehab centre treating covid-19 patients.

Circle Heath has confirmed it will open the doors on the new site in Edgbaston on September 1 after plans were first unveiled for the project in 2015.

The new hospital is the latest element of the Edgbaston Medical Quarter which is being developed on the city's Calthorpe Estate and includes the former BBC Pebble Mill studios site off the A38 Bristol Road.

Other facilities there include a new cancer treatment centre, Bupa care home and Birmingham Dental Hospital & School of Dentistry.

Earlier this year, Circle Health completed its acquisition of private hospital group BMI Healthcare which already runs two hospitals in close proximity to Pebble Mill, namely The Priory and The Edgbaston.

Due to competition regulations, the service offer has consequently changed at the new hospital from a broad spectrum to a specialist centre for rehabilitation to treat a wide range of injuries and conditions.

Called Circle Rehabilitation Birmingham, the hospital includes a significant investment in new technologies, including specialist rehab equipment, virtual reality and virtual monitoring, real-time recovery measurements and new apps and software.
