Places for students and city dwellers are in the running for the large residential scheme of the year prize in the 2019 ProCon Leicestershire property and construction awards.

The finalists for the award are a university student village, a premium student project on Leicester’s New Walk and a 297-apartment development on a prominent city site.

The category, sponsored by Winvic Construction, is one of seven in this year’s ProCon Awards. The ProCon Awards’ overall sponsors are Galliford Try Partnerships, Salus Approved Inspectors and Unique Window Systems. The Leicester Mercury is the awards’ media partner.

The Large Residential Scheme of the Year finalists are:

Loughborough University Student Village, submitted by BWB Consulting

A new active campus and student village in the heart of the Loughborough University includes 617 bedrooms and an Elite Athletes Centre.

The project included 20 adjustable climatic bedrooms, able to simulate altitudes of up to 5,000 metres for high performance training of both able bodied and disabled athletes.

The landscape design is influenced by sport. The paving of the main access route resembles a running track and numerous features are incorporated such as climbing walls, trampolines, an outdoor gymnasia and a ball wall.
