Innovation Birmingham plans new hub for growing tech businesses

More expansion at city centre tech campus as it targets scale ups and growing companies

A new hub for Birmingham's growing tech and digital business is set to be built in the city centre.

New plans have been unveiled by commercial property group Bruntwood to expand Innovation Birmingham Campus which it acquired from the city council last year.

Called 'Enterprise Wharf', the new building is expected to have 120,000 sq ft of office space across 11 floors, external cycle storage, showers, lockers and existing electric charging points alongside new public realm and improved access to the adjacent canal.

A planning application with final details is due to be submitted later in the summer.

Innovation Birmingham Campus is home to more than 200 tech start-ups housed in buildings such as Faraday Wharf and iCentrum and Enterprise Wharf is aimed at facilitating the next the next stage of growth for scale-ups and larger tech and digital businesses.

The project is being led by Bruntwood SciTech, the group's joint venture arm with Legal & General which owns and operates science and technology buildings across the º£½ÇÊÓÆµ aimed at helping companies in these sectors form, collaborate and grow.

Earlier this week, it announced it had secured one of the largest real estate deals outside of London this year after agreeing £185 million in new funding to support its sustainable development and growth programme.
