This major new civil engineering highway project in Shirley now provides state-of-the-art highway access to a proposed commercial and residential development for Helical Bar and Coltham Developments. This has been achieved by the design and installation of a new signalised junction on Haslucks Green Road and a signalised gyratory on the A34 Stratford Road.
This route consistently carries significant and constant high levels of traffic and the addition of a signalised gyratory will greatly improve traffic flow, particularly through the adjacent area. The improvement works incorporated a significant British Telecom exchange meaning major diversions of BT's underground cables was required with a 48-way duct route and large reinforced concrete chambers.
This highway project has been recognised as an examplar design and construction project, incorporating some of today's most complicated signal-operated junctions within a congested and urban environment.
PDaS Pumping Station Early Adoption Trail

The Private Drains and Sewer (PDaS) legislation now ensures that in 2016 private pumping stations serving two or more properties will be adopted by the appropriate local water company which will then be responsible for regular maintenance and up keep.
In preparation, Severn Trent Water has been reviewing how many pumping stations will fall under this new legislation within its area and the implications of future responsibility. As part of this, it has undertaken a pilot of 30 sites to understand the difficulties of civil improvement works on site, power issues and legal problems which it will face when taking on approximately 700 sites by 2016.
This early adoption trail project looked at innovation and methods of engineering which could bring the pumping stations to a safe and serviceable standard. This included more environmentally sustainable methods using gravity solutions, reducing operational costs and time.
Stratford-upon-Avon Parkway Railway Station

Located to the north west of Stratford-upon-Avon, Parkway Railway Station comprises two new platforms, a footbridge compliant with the Equality Act and a transport interchange facility on the North Warwick Line. The station was opened seven months ahead of schedule and within budget, meeting the aspirations of the multiple stakeholders.
The delivery team worked closely together, utilising their wide range of expertise from similar projects and pre-existing excellent relationships with project stakeholders including Network Rail. The team adopted a collaborative approach which included the early engagement of stakeholders and an open, honest and sharing attitude to problem solving which fostered a 'right first time' culture.
The successful project objectives and the delivery of Stratford-upon-Avon Parkway Railway Station seven months early can be attributed to this collaborative approach, adopted by the multi-organisational delivery team which is evident by the outstanding quality of infrastructure delivered.
