The former Hull home of manufacturer McBride has been bought by new owners, in a move which could create a significant number of jobs in the city.
The commercial space, in the Sutton Fields Industrial Estate, has been empty since the aerosol factory closed its doors in late March.
The building has now been bought by new owners, letting agency PPH Commercial has revealed, with refurbishment work set to take place in the coming weeks.
Hull Live understands there are two options for the factory – either find a similar manufacturer to move into the property, or break it up into smaller units to be let separately.
More than 100 jobs were lost when McBride closed down in Hull, and development on the site could see a significant number of new jobs created in the city.
Ben Medhurst, director at PPH, said: “The local industrial property market usually reflects Hull’s overall economic performance. Positively, the market is currently the strongest it’s been for decades.
“Demand continues to exceed supply and these high-quality units that we have premises we’ve recently brought to market have experienced significant levels of interest from a wide range of potential occupiers.
“This is good news for PPH and the wider Hull business community – as well as the people they employ. Long may it continue.”

The update on McBride comes as two other empty industrial units in Sutton Fields are also set to be brought back into business.
The former Hull Karting centre, in Stockholm Road, is expected to see “significant” investment from its owners to refurbish the space for future use.
It is hoped a new tenant will be found for the former karting business in the near future.
Alongside that, PPH Commercial recently concluded a deal on a 13,000sqft premises in Rotterdam Road which will allow an existing Hull-based business to expand its operations.
The McBride site in Hull covers over 125,000 sq.ft, with the potential for further development.
The manufacturer said the decision to close the Hull factory – with 117 jobs lost – was due to “a deterioration” in its aerosol business.
“McBride has enjoyed a long history in Hull and the group does not underestimate the effect of this proposal on our colleagues, their families and the wider community,” the firm said at the time of its closure.
