A former NHS hospital site in the centre of Hull has been sold to a prominent property development firm.

Victoria House, in Park Street, dates back to 1890, and was awarded listed building status in 1994.

Formerly used as an NHS facility, previous owner Humber Teaching NHS Foundation Trust put Victoria House up for sale last year after it was deemed surplus to requirements.

It was quickly snapped up by Hull Serviced Apartments, in what is the latest in a string of historic building acquisitions from the business.

James Ledger, managing director at HSA, said: "Victoria House is yet another among the many stunning architectural properties in Hull, with both a fascinating history yet an uncertain future.

“It's therefore great to have been able to secure that future and ensure that it will be there for current and future generations to appreciate."

Plans for the future of the former hospital site are expected to be revealed in the near future.
