More than 1,000 property and construction professionals have engaged online during the pandemic thanks to the patrons of ProCon Leicestershire.

The backing of the 14 patrons for 2020 helped fund eight webinars and other virtual networking events which have kept the local sector connected since the first March lockdown.

The patrons are all businesses with a direct interest in maintaining a buoyant property and construction scene in Leicestershire.

They include engineers, architects, lawyers, contractors and suppliers to the industry.

The online activity has covered topics including mental health awareness, the future of the city centre, building safety standards, planning policy, residential building expansion and modern methods of construction.

Webinars have also focused on specific new building projects including a virtual site tour of a new global HQ.

ProCon chair Umesh Desai, who is director of estates and facilities at De Montfort University, said: “Thanks to our 2020 patrons, we’ve been able to more than fill the gap left by the virus curtailing physical events since March.

“Many of the webinars have attracted more than 100 participants and the feedback has been very positive.
