Barratt Developments has handed its staff a one-off bonus potentially worth a total of £7.2 million on the back of record trading.
The Leicestershire-headquartered housebuilder said around 6,000 employees will each get a special award of 200 shares later this month.
The company’s share price currently stands at around £6.28, meaning each will get a package worth which could be around £1,256.
It will go to everyone outside the senior leadership team while part-time staff will get a pro rata award.
It follows a similar award marking the company’s 60th anniversary last year.
Staff will normally need to stay with the company for the next two years to cash in, though people who retire will still get share of the total.
Chief executive David Thomas said: “To celebrate a decade as a 5-star housebuilder, we want to recognise the dedication and hard work of our employees across the country by giving them a stake in the future of our company.
“Our teams continue to work to improve our quality and service and to maintain our position as the industry-leader by putting the customer at the heart of everything we do.”

A spokeswoman said: “Tenth consecutive year at 5-star is a long way ahead of any of the other major housebuilders – it means we have built just over 150,000 homes as a 5-star housebuilder.
“Last year to recognise our 60th anniversary, we also awarded employees 200 shares (pro-rata for part time employees).
“So in the last two years 400 shares have been awarded to employees below the senior management.”
Last week Barratt raised its full-year earnings outlook after revealing completions had surged to an 11-year high.
Britain’s biggest housebuilder – which was founded in Newcastle and is now based in Coalville – said it completed 17,856 homes, including joint ventures, over the last 12 months, – compared to 17,579 a year earlier.
The company also said efforts to boost its margins were set to see pre-tax profits beat market forecasts, at around £910 million – which would mark an 8.9 per cent rise on the previous year and another record high.
But the group’s full-year trading update showed a fall in the average private selling price, down 5 per cent to around £312,000 due to changes in the mix of homes sold, which it said was partly offset by some underlying house price inflation.

News of the bonus comes 10 days after another Leicestershire headquartered group, Watches of Switzerland, revealed to BusinessLive that it gave each of its staff £1,000 – totalling around £2.5 million – as a thank-you for helping with its May flotation.
Around 2,500 Watches of Switzerland, Goldsmiths and Mappin and Webb employes collected the extra payment in recognition of the part they played in the latest success for the luxury watch and jewellery chain.
Chief executive Brian Duffy said without them, the luxury group would not have been able to go public or plan the estimated £30 million a year it expects to put into improving its 海角视频 and US store estate.
