Holland & Barrett to open new Birmingham city centre store

Health food chain signs up to Gateway House in High Street in old Dorothy Perkins unit

Holland & Barrett will open next month in the old Dorothy Perkins unit in High Street

Health food chain Holland & Barrett has announced it will open a new store in Birmingham city centre next month.

It has taken the ground and first floors at Gateway House, in High Street, in the unit previously occupied

The firm has signed a ten-year lease and the new store opening is expected to create nine jobs.

Holland & Barrett's head of brand Emma Hobbs said: "This is an excellent opportunity in an area enjoying a large footfall and amidst many quality retailers.

"It represents a very significant investment and we are confident it will receive a warm welcome from shoppers."

The building, at 50-53 High Street, is owned by listed Birmingham property group

Senior asset manager Ian Clark said: "Holland & Barrett is a great addition to our portfolio.

"It confirms the level of confidence from the marketplace in the location and effectively endorses our asset management strategy in terms of making the most of the 27,000 sq ft complex."
