A former Derbyshire bank with permission in place to be turned into a pub or restaurant is among several commercial property lots set to go under the hammer later this week.

The ex-HSBC branch, in King Street, Alfreton, has been included in the sale, organised by SDL Auctions Graham Penny, which is due to take place on Friday at Derby County’s Pride Park Stadium.

The 1920s character property formerly housed the bank but since becoming vacant it has been given planning permission for A4 (public house), A3 (restaurant) and A5 (hot food takeaway) use.

The property, which retains many original features, is largely single storey with a staff room and ladies’ toilets on the first floor and storage facilities and toilets on the lower ground floor.

It has been given a guide price of £138,000-plus - and SDL Auctions are expecting it to attract a lot of attention in the auction room.

Nick Trow, commercial auction valuer at SDL, said: “ This is just one of many commercial opportunities in our latest auction catalogue.

“This former bank, in a prominent town-centre position, is a fascinating building with some interesting period features. It offers a host of opportunities for a number of alternative uses, subject to planning permission.”

Other commercial properties included in the catalogue include Charcoal Grill, in Derby’s Wardwick, which is currently let to an established takeaway business at £16,500 per year, with a rent review outstanding.
