The home of a former restaurant in Birmingham's business district is set to be reborn as a high-end nightclub aimed at city centre professionals.
The owner of legendary Birmingham nightclub Snobs is planning to turn 130 Colmore Row into 'Theatrix' which he said would be aimed at those keen to extend their nights out beyond a couple of post-work cocktails.
The grade II-listed building and was then converted by the same owners, Lasan Group, into steak and seafood restaurant Jailbird last year but that closed in January.
Snobs boss Wayne Tracey has now taken over the lease of the site and plans to launch Theatrix over the upcoming August bank holiday weekend.
He has also unveiled separate plans to revamp the nearby unit formerly occupied
Mr Tracey said: "Theatrix will be an entertainment venue but it is a completely different concept to Snobs.
"It will be catering to city centre professionals so very much more a high-end version of Snobs.
"It will have a similar fun, relaxed atmosphere…..(with) a daytime bar downstairs that will evolve into a late-night bar and club upstairs.

"I am also opening a place inside Bureau Bar - this will be more for the business crowd.
"I'll be putting a bar in the beautiful rooftop terrace and making the most of that space. I'll be guided by noise nuisance laws on what I can do there.
"I haven't decided on the new name for Bureau Bar and I want to pay homage to the history of the building in some way."
Mr Tracey said he had been wanting to open a club in the city centre for a while and was considering Chameleon in Hill Street when it closed before turning his attention to the old Jailbird unit.
He added: "It's such an amazing building in such an amazing area that is going from strength to strength.
"I've done my homework and research around Colmore Row and what people have told me is there are a lot of cocktail bars and restaurants but after that, when they want to dance or whatever, there's nothing around. Theatrix will fill that gap."
Theatrix and the Bureau Bar replacement will join Mr Tracey's portfolio of venues including the recently acquired Etiquette and Sobar in the Arcadian.
