Harworth Group starts work on 332,000 sq ft of industrial and logistics space in north west Leicestershire

Site is less than two miles from Junction 22 of the M1 and next to Harworth’s South East Coalville development

Harworth Group plc and Winvic have started work on six big units at Bardon Hill, near Coalville.

Construction work has started on 332,000 sq ft of industrial and logistics space in north west Leicestershire.

Rotherham-based Harworth Group plc, a specialist in regenerating land and property for development and investment, is building six units on the site at Bardon Hill, near Coalville.

The developer bought the 54-acre site in May 2018, gaining outline planning consent from North West Leicestershire District Council in July, 2019, and full approval in March, 2020.

The six units will be adaptable for manufacturing or distribution use and will range in size from 28,000 sq ft to 116,000 sq ft.

Harworth Group said they will be built to BREEAM Very Good standard and EPC rating ‘A’. Each will have first floor offices, secure service yards and dedicated car parking spaces. The plans also include a 10-acre wildlife centre and new great crested newt ponds.

The site is less than two miles from Junction 22 of the M1 and next to Harworth’s South East Coalville development.

A spokesman said: “Demand for the units is expected to be strong, given both the development’s proximity to an existing concentration of industrial and distribution units with very low vacancy rates, where occupiers include Amazon, Eddie Stobart and DHL, and the greater diversity of unit sizes and specifications the scheme provides, which will ensure suitability for a wide range of occupiers.”

Construction is being undertaken by Winvic, with marketing by Mather Jamie, Savills and Burbage Realty, and the development is expected to be completed within 12 months.
