A gym company has opened its first ever site in the Black Country.

XF Gym has launched a 40,000 sq ft fitness hub at the Merry Hill centre in Brierley Hill, marking the first time a gym operator has opened there.

Located in an anchor unit on the upper floor, XF Gym has a gym, women-only area, fitness studio for classes, sauna and steam room.

Chief executive Laurence Benson said: "We have a singular goal of helping our members live better so we're thrilled to have opened our doors and to start delivering on this commitment.

"Merry Hill aligns perfectly with our values, making it the ideal home for our debut studio."

Graeme Jones, executive director at Merry Hill's asset manager Sovereign Centros, added: "The launch of XF Gym is yet another example of how Merry Hill has evolved, taking its position as a focal point for the West Midlands to the next level.

"We remain committed to securing anchor tenants that respond to what the community needs and XF Gym will provide residents and workers with a wellness-focused brand they can be proud of having in their locality."

The launch of the gym comes just a few weeks after Australian tech and home appliance retailer Harvey Norman made its debut in England by opening a 57,000 sq ft store at Merry Hill.

The new store, which joins two sister sites in Belfast, is selling products such as furniture, dining sets, bedroom suites, kitchenware, home appliances and technology.
