Gresham aparthotel in Leicester is recruiting and looking for ground floor tenants

Owners need 25 staff this summer in readiness for autumn opening and want businesses to lease four units

The Gresham in Leicester

The owners of a £17 million aparthotel with shops and a shared workspace on the ground floor are looking for recruits and inviting businesses to take a look at tenancy opportunities.

Work is pretty much complete turning a former landmark Fenwick department store on the corner of Market Street and Belvoir Street in Leicester into a 121-bed complex called The Gresham.

The owners want to recruit 25 staff this summer in readiness for an autumn opening.

They are also looking for businesses to lease four commercial units with basement and ground floor space in the Grade II listed Victorian building,

The original building dates back to the 1800s and was designed by local architect Isaac Barradale for Joseph Johnsons, a local draper.

In 1962, it was taken over by retailer Fenwick, which occupied the site until spring 2017.

Both Market Street and Belvoir Street have suffered from low take-up of shop units in recent years – made worse by the pandemic – and it is hoped the new development will help bring new life into the area.

Aimrok Holdings, the company behind the development, says it believes the Market Street area of the city is poised to become a popular destination once again.
