A new industrial development has been granted consent.

Urban regeneration company Summix has secured outline permission for around 220,000 sq ft of commercial space at the junction of Rush Lane and Tamworth Road south of Tamworth.

The development, on 17 acres of brownfield derelict land, will create jobs through a range of new buildings that will offer research, commercial and industrial uses.

Biodiversity enhancements and wildlife features have also been included in the plans.

Access for the new development will be from the existing site entrance on the A51 Tamworth Road in the village of Dosthill.

The outline permission was granted following a previous deferral of the application.

Summix development director Stuart Black said: "These plans will provide a major economic boost to the area, attracting investment and businesses to the area and will create new jobs.
