Plans for the final phase of a major scheme on the Derbyshire/Nottinghamshire border which would create more than 1,000 jobs have been given the green light.

Park 38, off Cartwright Lane, opposite the East Midlands Designer Outlet at South Normanton, is a mixed used development, which would see a new £46 million retail park created on farmland, as well as a hotel and industrial/distribution units.

Bolsover District Council has already approved the first phase of the scheme for 10 retail units and a 95-bedroom hotel.

That part of the scheme is currently awaiting sign-off from the Government, with the final decision being delayed due to the General Election.

The district council’s planning committee recently met to consider the second and final phase, which involves building a number of warehouse and distribution units.

At that meeting, councillors granted planning permission for that part of the development, after planning officers recommended approval.

The company behind Park 38 is Lincoln-based Limes Developments, with both phases designed by Corsthorphine and Wright Architects.
