Grand Central to undergo £2m facelift

Public areas above New Street station will receive new lighting, revamped entrance and seating

New Street Mall at Grand Central is undergoing a £2m facelift

A Birmingham shopping centre is undergoing a £2 million facelift aimed at boosting the aesthetic appeal of its public areas.

The renovation work will focus on the 'New Street Mall' area of Grand Central, connected to its Stephenson Street entrance, and will include upgrades to the internal walkway, new seating, work to revitalise store fronts and new lighting.

This work is set to complete in October while a second phase, due to be ready next spring, will involve an upgrade to the double-height entrance aimed at enhancing its visibility.

"Across our portfolio, we're always looking at ways to improve the experience for our partners and customers and this is a fantastic example of that.

"Bullring and Grand Central is one of the º£½ÇÊÓƵ's best retail and leisure destinations and the investment we've announced will help ensure we continue to deliver for both consumers and brands for many years to come."
