Go karting track set to open at Birmingham leisure destination

Star City has signed deal with Capital Karts while other leases have been extended on popular park

Birmingham night-time and leisure destination Star City has announced plans to open a new go karting track.

The move is part of a series of new lettings announced by the venue in the city's Aston district which will also see new restaurants open or expand.

The estate's asset manager Quadrant has announced that Capital Karts has signed a deal for 39,000 sq ft on a 20-year lease. The 800-metre track will have a fleet of electric karts that can reach up to 45 mph. It is due to open early next year.

Pakistani and Indian restaurant Shere Khan's is expanding its existing 6,612 sq ft premises to incorporate an additional 7,772 sq ft unit, having signed a 15-year lease.

The new combined premises will be refitted and will include banqueting facilities.

Indian street food brand Chaiiwala has also signed a ten-year lease on one of Star City's last available kiosk units totalling 386 sq ft, replacing sandwich restaurant Subway which has moved to a larger space on the estate.

And finally, fast food chain Taco Bell recently agreed a deal for 2,700 sq ft on a ten-year lease, opening its first restaurant in central Birmingham in June.
