A global fashion brand has announced it is opening a new store in Birmingham's Bullring shopping centre.

Japanese marque Uniqlo is taking a three-floor, 20,000 sq ft unit outside the centre's main entrance although it has not announced an opening date at this stage.

The majority of Uniqlo's º£½ÇÊÓÆµ stores are located in London and the South East and the new Bullring outlet will mark its debut in the Midlands region.

The shop will have 11,840 sq ft of trading space and sell men's, women's and children's clothing.

Chief operating officer Alessandro Dudech said: "Uniqlo continues to invest in the º£½ÇÊÓÆµ retail landscape, growing our footprint and e-commerce across the nation.

"Bringing the brand to the Midlands for the first time is a key strategic step for us and Bullring's prominent position in the º£½ÇÊÓÆµ's second city made for the ideal location."

This is the latest big-name brand to commit to the Bullring, following which saw queues forming in the middle of the night ahead of launch day.

Paul O'Brien, director of leasing at Bullring's co-owner Hammerson, added: "Bullring continues to attract best-in-class global brands seeking a flagship presence in the region, reinforcing its position as the leading Midlands destination.

"Uniqlo is the latest brand to make a significant commitment to Bullring, reflecting the strength of our position, quality of the asset and exceptional line-up of leading names in retail."
