Contractor GB Building Solutions has been awarded a £36 million brief to build a luxury retirement village in Warwickshire.

The company will redevelop an 80-acre brownfield site which was once the home of the Maudslay Motor Company's vehicle production works to create a village with one-, two- and three-bedroom apartments and cottages.

The complex, in Great Alne near Stratford, will also have country club-style facilities including a restaurant, library, swimming pool and gym to be located in a recreation of Great Alne Hall.

GB Building Solutions, whose Rugby office will lead the project, has been appointed by joint venture partners Renaissance Villages and Helical Bar.

Phase one, which includes the clubhouse, is due to be completed in early 2016, with phase two finished by April 2017.

GB Building Solutions executive chairman Martin Smout said: "Maudslay Park is a superb, age-exclusive village in a beautiful setting.

The company's Rugby base is currently working on a £10.4 million student accommodation block in Selly Oak for Buile Developments and a
