Fresh plans have been unveiled for a regeneration site in Birmingham city centre.

Landmark Properties, one of the largest student developers in the US, has launched a consultation for a vacant plot of land off Suffolk Street Queensway next to the Mailbox.

The Georgia-based company wants to build accommodation capable of hosting around 500 students alongside communal areas.

The application site sits behind the Queens Gate former office building and is currently being used as a car park.

Queens Gate is subject to a separate plan to be converted into residential accommodation by the Riverlow Group which received consent in 2023 to regenerate the whole site before selling part of it to Landmark Properties.

Separately, Cheshire-based Vita Group is due to open 540 student bedrooms further along Suffolk Street Queensway at the corner with Gough Street next year.

Landmark Properties has more than 72,000 student beds under active management across the world but this new scheme, provisionally called '120 Suffolk Street', is the firm's first planning application in the º£½ÇÊÓƵ.
