The owners of the facility, Frome-based firm Forward, have teamed up with business support groups Tech South West, Digital Somerset and Teapot Creative for the ‘Startup at Collar Factory’ scheme.
The winner will occupy a furnished 20 sq m studio in the building, designed by Bristol-based office design firm Shape, and roughly enough space for six people.
Applicants are being encouraged to share the story of their businesses and explain how their ventures could benefit from winning a private studio space.
Located on St Augustine Street close to the County Ground, the home of Somerset County cricket club, The Collar Factory began hosting businesses last year, following a four-month delay due to what its owners called the “lasting effects of Covid and Brexit".
The facility provides 24 private studio spaces, workpods for two people and a co-working area. Meeting rooms, a member’s kitchen and lounge and a large event space will also form part of the building.
Forward also operates co-working buildings in Bristol and Frome, with new sites in Devon and Cornwall set to open.
