A hotel in Cornwall has been acquired for an undisclosed sum.

The Fowey Valley Hotel in the town of Lostwithiel, located around six miles from visitor attraction The Eden Project, has been bought by an unnamed independent hotel group.

The 38-bedroom accommodation hotel trades under the Best Western franchise and has been operated by independent operators since 2003.

Property adviser Christie and Co, which brokered the sale, said the previous owners had made the decision to sell up in order to reinvest in another of their businesses.

The recently refurbished three-star guest house includes a restaurant and bar, and a heated outdoor swimming pool.

Stephen Champion, director in Christie and Co’s South West hotels team said: “Following the launch of the Fowey Valley Hotel to market in late 2022, we received significant levels interest from a wide range of operators, as quality hotel opportunities are still very much in demand across the South West region despite the real challenges facing the hospitality sector.

“We are delighted to announce the successful sale and wish the new owners all the best with their recent acquisition.”

According to BusinessLive’s sister website , the Fowey Valley Hotel had been put on the market for £1.4m.
