The former Wrexham Wire factory that closed in 2020 is to reopen under a new manufacturer.

When the Wrexham Industrial Estate site closed around 80 workers lost their jobs but Prime Property Consultancy (PPC) later acquired the factory and premises on Ash Road North - and started a £2m refurbishment programme

The project was named Wire 81, acknowledging its previous use and the size of the accommodation available, which is 81,580 sq ft in total.

Now it has been announced that Europe’s leading tail lift manufacturer Dhollandia has chosen the site for its new º£½ÇÊÓƵ assembly plant - with a freehold purchase deal on completion of redevelopment works.

There will be 25 initial jobs.

The company has production sites in five countries and produces over 50,000 units a year - supplying to over 70 nations worldwide.

Chris Lay, business unit director for Dhollandia º£½ÇÊÓƵ Ltd, said: “The site is an ideal fit for our new assembly plant here in the º£½ÇÊÓƵ and we are very pleased with the specification of the building. We are very much looking forward to getting production up and running."

Imran Younus, commercial director at PPC, said: “Refurbishment opportunities are hard to come and Wire 81 provided an opportunity for us to add value and create new space to a limited market. We turned this site round in exactly 12 months, which is a remarkable achievement considering the current material supply constraints."
