Former Minton Tileworks building to be sold at auction

Minton Hollins & Co produced tiles for some of the world's most famous buildings

The former Minton Tileworks building

A former pottery factory which has produced tiles for some of the world's most famous buildings is going under the hammer.

The former Minton Hollins Tileworks, in Stoke-on-Trent, has been put up for auction with a guide price of upwards of £1.45m.

The two-storey building - which is based on a 1.5-acre site off Shelton Old Road - was formerly occupied by tile-making firm Minton Hollins & Co which was established in 1845.

Its famous tiles have been installed at the Victoria & Albert Museum and the Houses of Parliament, in London, as well as the US Capitol building.

The company - which also owned the now demolished Minton Pottery Factory - merged with Royal Doulton in the 1980s and the building was listed and preserved.

It underwent a major refurbishment last summer and is now entirely occupied by debt collection and credit management agency Advantis Credit Ltd which signed a 10-year lease on the building in July 2020.

The building is now being sold by Acuitus at online auction taking place at 2pm on Thursday, March 25.
