Former Halfords store to become healthcare centre

NHS agrees letting deal for diagnostic centre in south Birmingham

Former Halfords in Maypole, Birmingham, which will house a new NHS healthcare centre

A new NHS healthcare centre is to open in south Birmingham in a former retail store.

The South Birmingham Community Diagnostic Centre will open this summer in a former Halfords store in Maypole.

The centre is a partnership between NHS Birmingham and Solihull Integrated Care Board, University Hospitals Birmingham NHS Foundation Trust and InHealth, a specialist provider of diagnostic services.

The new health centre will offer a wide variety of diagnostic tests in one place, including MRI, CT and ultrasound scans, X-rays and other health screening services.

It will give patients access to diagnostic tests closer to home, reducing the need for hospital visits and providing quicker delivery of care.

It will be one of three such centres in Birmingham and Solihull, with others in Washwood Heath and Chelmsley Wood.

The deal was brokered by Birmingham-based property agency Real Estate Investors.
