Property developer Godwin Group has announced the appointment of ex Nottingham City Council leader Jon Collins.

Mr Collins, who was also on the board of organisations including the D2N2 local enterprise partnership, will serve as public sector advisor on the company's advisory board.

The appointment comes as the organisation aims to increase the work it does with public sector groups and local authorities.

Mr Collins, who spent 32 years at the council, 16 as leader, said: "I am excited to be joining Godwin Developments' advisory board聽and to contribute my public sector, regeneration and property experience to help support the growth and future success of the company."

Mr Collins, who represented St Ann's, was one of 17 Labour councillors to stand down at the election in May, when the party kept control of the authority, winning 50 out of 55 seats.

He was replaced as leader by Councillor David Mellen.

Its projects have included residential and commercial property programmes and it currently has deals in the pipeline which will take its gross development value to 拢1 billion over the next two years.
