A former student block in Bristol is being transformed into luxury serviced apartments and a co-working space.
The lease on Merchants House, in Clifton, was acquired by brothers Charlie and Toby Guest, co-founders of serviced apartment provider Your Apartment.
The duo have spent £1.6million redeveloping the property which will include 34 high-tech home-studio-style apartments.
The so-called ‘aparthotel’ is expected to open in December.
Each apartment will have a kitchenette, ‘relaxation area’, king-sized bed and bathroom with a wet room shower.
According to Charlie and Toby, the 20-to-30 sq ft studios will mainly be used by professionals working away from home on business assignments.
But they said they were also hoping they would attract leisure guests exploring Bristol at the weekends.
Charlie said: “Merchants House is in an incredible location situated in the heart of Bristol’s’ most iconic neighbourhood, Clifton.

“This will be our biggest project to date and we’re really excited to be launching it in our hometown of Bristol."

The new aparthotel has been styled by up-and-coming British designers, according to the co-founders.
Each apartment will be accessible via contactless check-in using a digital room key on a smartphone.
The building will also have a 24/7 co-working space for residents, with complimentary coffee and tea, free high-speed Wi-Fi, a bike store, and parking spaces.
Toby added: “Since we launched Your Apartment in April 2017, our customers have demanded vibrant, comfortable and efficient living spaces in central locations in the city.
“Our smaller aparthotels, Frederick Place & Rowan Tree, have been a huge success and Merchants House is a great opportunity for us to further deliver this to our guests."
