Former Black Country loans shop sold

West Bromwich unit will be turned into a fashion store

A former loans shop on a Black Country high street is set to become a fashion boutique following a property sale.

The 1,233 sq ft unit in High Street, West Bromwich, has been acquired by Rubee Enterprises for £205,000.

It was previously occupied by Money Shop but the company vacated the premises last year and It will now undergo a refurbishment and reopen as a clothes retailer.

James Mattin, chief executive of property agency Bond Wolfe which brokered the sale, said: "This deal, agreed and completed during lockdown, is testament to the fact that there is still life in high street retail.

"As we ease out of lockdown, there is strong evidence of a return to activity along the high street and we wish the purchaser every success in the future.

"We had a number of interested parties looking to purchase this property for their own use so the demand is certainly still there."

The area around the property has been regenerated in recent years and is predominantly made up of commercial and mixed-use accommodation, with nearby brands including McDonald’s, Argos, Nationwide and New Look.
