First planned work on massive Peddimore project revealed

Public consultation launched by IM Properties and Birmingham City Council into project expected to create around 1,500 jobs

Proposals for the first two buildings at the Peddimore industrial regeneration in north Birmingham have been unveiled.

IM Properties, in partnership with landowner Birmingham City Council, is leading the scheme in Minworth and said it was in advanced negotiations with a prospective occupier which would create more than 1,000 full-time jobs.

A second building, to be located at the gateway into the site, could accommodate either manufacturing or logistics businesses and has the potential to create a further 470 full-time jobs.

A public consultation has now been launched for these first two buildings.

The proposed project, on 175 acres of land next to the A38 and Peddimore Lane, has the potential to create up to 6,500 jobs and support a further 3,000 in the associated supply chain.

Planning consent was awarded in summer 2019 for an outline masterplan with all matters reserved and a second full application covering new roundabout access from the A38, roads, cycle and pedestrian paths and other works to serve the site.

The park will be constructed across four separate development zones which are expected to total around 2.6 million sq ft of commercial floorspace.
