Everards Brewery wants to put a hotel next the new headquarters it is building south of Leicester.
Management expect to apply for planning permission some time this year for a 50-80 room hotel on the new Everards Meadow site.
It would cost around £3.5 million to build.
Aimed at the leisure market they hope it would complement the, brewery, offices, beer hall and shop being built, which will be finished this autumn.
A cafe and Rutland Cycling store have already opened on the 70 acre greenfield site which backs on to the River Soar.
The new brewery will have capacity to make around 16,000 barrels of beer a year for Everards’ 173 pubs and its partners such as Leicester Tigers, the Morningside basketball arena and Curve theatre.
Previous plans for a distillery next to the brewery have been dropped in favour of a small, “pilot brewery” which would allow members of the public to brew small batches of beer.
It comes as the brewery announced a turnover of £30.5 million in the year to September 30 – about £1 million up on the previous year.

Pre-tax profits were £2.1 million while group EBITDA was £5.9 million, 1 per cent ahead of the prior year, which it said reflected a “good trading performance and a reduction in overheads”.
The business acquired four pubs in the year in Nottinghamshire, in Staffordshire and Northamptonshire, two of which had significant capital investment before re-opening.
Everards managing director Stephen Gould said: “During this year Everards will make an application for a small hotel on the meadows site, which will be an Everards application rather than on behalf of another hotelier.
“I would imagine it would probably be between 50 and 80 rooms and we would want to do something which is very much in keeping with the development at Everards Meadows.
“With the connections the site provides to the city centre and beyond we think the hotel will be more of a family oriented hotel rather than strictly business.
“We are cautious, but it could complement the beer hall and coffee shop and the 70 acres of public park which we opened up last July.”
Mr Gould announced the plans at a Network LE business breakfast in Leicester city centre.

He said the new 200 capacity beer hall, brewery, offices and shop would open around October/November and would create around 35 jobs.
As well as buying new pubs and investing in the new premises, Everards sold a number of “primarily unlicensed” properties last year, generating £8.3 million, much of which was being spent on new developments and further pub acquisitions.
Trading in the first three months of the new financial year, Mr Gould said, was in line with expectations.
He said: “Our underlying performance during this has been strong which is a reflection of the effort given by the whole team.
“The pub estate, led by business owners, continues to delight customers and compete successfully.
“We remain focussed on working with all of our business owners through building great relationships, complemented by effective capital investment.
“We also look forward to our next chapter when our new home opens in autumn this year.”
