A Leicester-based building firm has been appointed on a major redevelopment project in Birmingham.

Bode Contracting will deliver the Priory House scheme at the former Birmingham forensic science laboratories, on the corner of Kent Street and Gooch Street North, in the Southside district of the city.

Preparation work has been carried out at the seven-storey Priory House since Elevate acquired the former home of the Forensic Science Service in Birmingham from Rainer Developments in March.

Now Bode Contracting will begin a 55-week, multimillion-pound build in late June with completion scheduled for the third quarter of 2022.

The development will see the landmark 77,000 sq ft building repurposed into 79 luxury apartments.

Bode Contracting's managing director Dan Bodell said: "We are really excited to have been appointed to such a prestigious project - to develop premium residential living space in this magnificent building.

"Elevate Property Group has built a reputation for quality, medium rise, large town and inner city residential developments, and the design and finish of Priory House, when completed, will set a new standard for residential living in Birmingham."

James Costello, development director of Jewellery Quarter-based Elevate Property Group, added: "We have known Dan and his team for some time and have worked successfully together.
