Strutt House is going up in the Nightingale Quarter, Derby

Builders have reached the highest point of construction on the first of eight new apartment blocks in Derby’s Nightingale Quarter.

Wavensmere Homes has completed the topping out at Strutt House, which will eventually include 140 one and two bedroom apartments.

The block has been designed by architects Gould Singleton and is going up on the site of the former Derbyshire Royal Infirmary.

Overall the 18.5 acre Nightingale Quarter is one of the biggest city centre regeneration schemes in the º£½ÇÊÓƵ and will eventually have just short of 900 new homes and apartments.

In attendance at the Strutt House topping out were members of the construction team at Wavensmere Homes alongside managing director James Dickens, Nick Spencer of BBS Capital, Grahame Whateley of Cedar Invest and chief executive of Derby Council, Paul Simpson.

BBS Capital, Wavensmere and Cedar Group have joined forces to work on the Nightingale Quarter.

Paul Simpson said: “It’s incredible to see the dramatic changes taking place at Nightingale Quarter and how the skyline in Derby is evolving.

“The development brings much needed quality housing to the city centre and we are excited to see how the rest of the development by Wavensmere Homes comes together.
