The acquisition by MIA Property Group adds to its ownership of the adjoining site, creating a much larger development opportunity although firm details of the plans have not yet been released.
Eamonn Colman, investment director at MIA Property Group, said: "This acquisition strengthens our commitment to investing in Birmingham's future.
"By uniting this site with our adjoining landholding, we can plan and deliver a considered, design-led residential development that responds to the city's housing needs and enhances the local environment.
"Birmingham is undergoing a period of significant growth and this project will play a role in supporting that momentum."
The vacant building was marketed by property agency KWB on behalf of West Midlands Police after becoming surplus to operational requirements.
KWB director Martin Cook added: "We're delighted to have secured a successful sale of this prime site for West Midlands Police.
"With its superb connectivity and proximity to the city's employment and leisure hubs, it offers an exceptional opportunity for placemaking.
"The ability to combine the site with neighbouring land in MIA's ownership provides the scale and cohesion to deliver a transformative development that benefits both Ladywood and Birmingham as a whole."
