A Derbyshire developer is moving forward with plans to build new warehouse and industrial units in Leicestershire following a delay caused by the coronavirus crisis.

Clowes Developments, which is based at Ednaston, near Ashbourne, has just submitted a reserved matters application to create Stoney Stanton Business Park.

The speculatively-built scheme, sited just off the M69, near Hinkley, south-west of Leicester, will consist of a number of units, ranging from 2,500 sq ft to over 30,000 sq ft, all available to buy or rent.

Back in February, Clowes had said it aimed to start work on the new units by the end of this year – but that was before the coronavirus lockdown hit.

The units, which would be located within minutes of the A5 and the M69, are being marketed by Tim Gilbertson and Chris Proctor from FHP Property Consultants and Mike Allwood and Geoff Gibson from Andrew & Ashwell.

According to the agents, they has more than 30 companies already interested in taking space at Stoney Stanton.

In a joint statement, they said: “It is great to see the progress Clowes are making with this site. The submission of their full planning application shows their intent to move forward swiftly on what is a location very much in need of additional industrial and distribution stock to buy and rent.

“We applaud their efforts in progressing so quickly during the difficult lockdown period and, if all goes according to plan, our clients hope to be onsite within the next couple of months.
