Derby property summit to showcase £1.2 billion of investment opportunities


Investment opportunities include new housing, transport, waterside and manufacturing schemes

How Derby's 3,500 capacity Becketwell venue could look

Some £1.2 billion of investment opportunities across Derby will be showcased when the Derby Property Summit returns next month.

Hundreds of business leaders, key decision makers and investors to attend the event on Wednesday, July 14, which will be a mix of in-person and online.

The showcase will be hosted by journalist and former BBC business correspondent Declan Curry and feature a line-up of respected keynote speakers and panellists.

Marketing Derby, which is behind the event, said over the last five years alone, £2.8 billion has been invested in Derby, while current public sector funding projects in the pipeline total £267 million.

Speakers include Paul Simpson, chief executive of Derby City Council, Paul Morris, development director at St James Securities – which is delivering the £200 million Becketwell regeneration scheme – and Ken Ford, advisor to Cale Street, which owns the Derbion shopping centre.

A networking element will take place in the Market Place Al Fresco Dining Experience, with the conference held in Derby’s QUAD cinema.

Numbers will be limited to 120 in-person – with tickets to the live event and face-to-face networking area limited to event sponsors only – with unlimited numbers online. So far more than 300 people have registered to attend.

Towards the end of last year, Derby launched a new Investment Prospectus and film, outlining 17 key investment opportunities, worth more than £1.2 billion with the potential to create 8,000 jobs.
