Delivery management company Whistl is to move in to a new 78,000 sq ft depot in South Gloucestershire next year.

The site, at Patchway near Bristol, is currently under development and will be used for the company’s business mail and parcel collection, and sorting operations for the South West.

Whistl has been based it its current depot, which is near the new one, since 2006. All 170 team members will transfer to the new site in 2021, the company said.

The move to the larger space will also see the company launch a recruitment drive in the New Year for new job opportunities in the office, depot and transport areas, Whistl said.

According to the firm, the new purpose-built site will help the company "improve" current operations and create a "more efficient" environment.

Nick Wells, chief executive of Whistl, said: “We are looking forward to our move in 2021 to a new site which will provide an enhanced working environment for our colleagues in Bristol.

"This investment demonstrates our commitment to the South West and to ensuring that we continue to provide efficient and cost-effective service for our customers."

Whistl, which operates across the º£½ÇÊÓƵ and handles more than 3.6 billion items a year, said the move would also mean the company is able to reduce its carbon footprint by using the latest heat and power technology, and improved insulation.
