One of Birmingham鈥檚 most popular independent coffee shops is to open a second branch in the city centre.

Damascena, which has won over customers in Moseley, will open a shop in the former Lisa Shepherd hair salon in Temple Row West, overlooking St Philip鈥檚 Cathedral.

The celebrity stylist closed the and the new coffee shop is set to open in January.

Ed Purcell, of real estate company Cushman and Wakefield, said it was one of Birmingham鈥檚 most high-profile addresses.

He added: 鈥淒amascena has established itself as one of Birmingham鈥檚 leading independent coffee operators. Its attractive fit out, selection of period properties and food and beverage menu sets it out from a typical bland coffee chain. This has made it a huge success.鈥

The Alcester Road shop has built up a great reputation and was voted most captivating cafe 2014 by Moseley in Bloom.

The Moseley shop also has a delicatessen and specialises in Middle Eastern food.
