A º£½ÇÊÓƵ vehicle remarketing company is planning a major expansion of its Bristol operation centre as part of ambitious growth plans.

Copart º£½ÇÊÓƵ - part of the US-based global Copart business - said its investment in the site at Avonmouth would see it almost quadruple in size to become a ‘super centre’ in the South West.

The business said the expansion would also have the potential to create new job opportunities in the region.

Copart was established 10 years ago and currently employs around 1,100 people in Britain, including 65 at its 63-acre site in Bristol.

The business handles vehicles for companies including most of the º£½ÇÊÓƵ’s biggest insurers, salvaging and remarketing them through its global online auction.

As well as expanding the Bristol base to create extra storage capacity, Copart said it would make “significant improvements” to its service infrastructure, including enlarged areas for handling the most badly damaged vehicles, and new valeting and imaging bays to present vehicles in their online auctions.

Jane Pocock, managing director of Copart º£½ÇÊÓƵ and Ireland, said: “We need to expand to meet growing demand from our customers. This site is in a great strategic location with good transport links and gives us the scale we need in this region.

“This new Super Centre will allow us to respond immediately to events, such as severe flooding, when many vehicles need to be recovered in a short timescale.
