Construction of a £1.2 million industrial unit extension for global automotive suppliers Webasto is underway.

The project is intended to streamline deliveries and reduce noise levels at the º£½ÇÊÓƵ sunroof plant on Kingsbury Business Park, in Minworth.

Centurion Properties and Scottish Widows Investment Partnership Property Trust gave the scheme the go ahead following the successful exchange of an agreement for lease with Webasto on two units totalling 105,074 sq ft.

Webasto, which is headquartered in Stockdorf near Munich, has signed two new reversionary leases on the units which extend its occupation on the business park to June 2025.

The project is expected to take 22 weeks to complete and will provide Webasto with a new 22,500 sq ft fully enclosed canopy extension with acoustic wall to the rear yard area of one of the units close to the residential area of Sutton Square.

The project has been the subject of lengthy consultations with local residents and the planning authority.

is acting as letting agency for Centurion Properties and the Scottish Widows trust.

Alex Carr, director and head of industrial agency, said: "The aim of the project is to institute improvements that will benefit both the tenants of the business park and the residents of Sutton Square.

"Webasto Roof Systems is a key global automotive supplier and we are delighted that they have decided to remain at Kingsbury for the long term."

Chris Hesbrook, senior building surveyor at Malcolm Hollis, will be project managing the development. Building contractor J Mills is carrying out the work. Neil Slade, director at Harris Lamb, acted on behalf of Webasto.
