Colliers International appoints new Birmingham head

Jon Cookson will perform dual role with Brindleyplace agency as he continues to lead corporate restructuring team following departure of David Smeeton

Jon Cookson is Colliers International's new head of office in Birmingham

The Birmingham arm of property consultancy has announced its new head of office.

Jon Cookson takes over from David Smeeton in charge to join Cushman & Wakefield as its senior director and head of investment.

Mr Cookson is the incumbent leader of the corporate restructuring team and will continue to perform this role alongside his new duties as head of office.

Tony Horrell, º£½ÇÊÓƵ chief executive of Colliers International, said: "Jon's experience and broad network across our º£½ÇÊÓƵ business makes him well placed to take on the increased responsibility of leading the Birmingham office.

"Birmingham is our largest office outside of London, with 105 employees and rising, therefore it was essential we appointed a leader who would possess the entrepreneurial spirit and high integrity that could really make a difference in the region - Jon certainly meets that brief.

"I'd also like to thank John Webber who did an excellent job in the role of interim head of office during this transition period."

Mr Cookson joined Colliers in 2008 to lead its corporate restructuring team and, during his time with the Brindleyplace-based firm, he has built a team of 20 specialist advisers operating across the º£½ÇÊÓƵ.

He said: "Colliers' Birmingham office reported its tenth consecutive year of growth in 2015 so it's certainly an exciting time to be taking on this role.
