A family-run care home business is planning to reopen a nursing home in Devizes, Wiltshire, after buying up the property for an undisclosed sum.

Coate Water Care said it had bought and refurbished the building, which is next to the Kennet and Avon canal, during the Covid-19 pandemic.

The home has been named Avebury House and will provide nursing and dementia care for up to 47 people, according to the company.

Law firm Royds Withy King advised Coate Water Care on the deal.

Geraldine Smith, director of Coate Water Care, said: “We are delighted to have secured this new property to re-open a much-needed care home in Devizes.

"It was not without its challenges during this difficult period, but our team at Coate Water Care has been brilliant in refurbishing the home in a matter of weeks.

“We could not have done this without the expert support and advice of Royds Withy King, who guided us through the legal process from start to finish. It has been a real team effort and I am so pleased we have managed to pull it off.”

Paul Daniels, partner and head of real estate at Royds Withy King, added: “We are really pleased to have supported Geraldine and the Coate Water Care team through this transaction to enable them to acquire this exciting opportunity.
