Co-op set to open its latest store in Wales at the site of a former magistrates court

The retailer is preparing to open the doors at a new shop in the seaside town of Prestatyn

The Co-op is set to serve-up its newest Welsh food store in Prestatyn next month following a £600,000 investment.

Its store – located on Victoria Road - runs on 100% renewable electricity and will create 15 jobs.

The new food store – which is approximately 2,500 sq ft will open on Friday July 5.

There is also a new Greggs Bakery opening on the same site in the coming weeks.

It is part of a retail and homes project being build on the site of the former Prestatyn Magistrates Court, which closed in 2016.

Katie McFaul, Co-op Store manager, said: “We are delighted to have had the opportunity to make such a significant investment in Prestatyn, we have been having a great response, and we are looking forward to serving the community – our ambition is to establish the store at the heart of local life.

“It’s a great way for us to mark the 175th anniversary year of the Co-op!”

Michael Gallagher, Co-op Area Manager, said: “The store will have a great look and range, it’s all about getting closer to our members and customers, providing what they want, need and care about, conveniently.
