Drinks giant Carlsberg Britvic is planning to create more than 30 new jobs in the West Midlands by investing £20 million into one of its factories.

The company is pledging to expand its building in Rugby and create a new canning line for soft drinks there.

The manufacturer said the new line would significantly increase production capacity, taking the factory's total number of canning lines up to ten and allowing it to expand its production by 50,000 cans per hour to 610,000.

Located on the Glebe Farm Industrial Estate, the new line will create 34 new jobs in engineering and manufacturing, taking the total number of employees at the site to more than 430 people.

The Rugby factory is next to packaging supplier Ardagh Group, with cans arriving via an underground passage from the neighbouring facility.

The funding brings total investment in the site over the past five years to more than £60 million.

This latest announcement adds to the news that Carlsberg Britvic has just started work on building a new distribution hub on the huge West Midlands Interchange park west of Cannock which is due to open next year.
