A new development of apartments including what is believed to be Birmingham most expensive penthouse currently on the market has been unveiled.

The £5.6 million project has seen Galbraith House, a run-down 1970s city centre office block, converted into 19 apartments.

The seven-storey building, now contains a penthouse pad which is being marketed for £875,000 while other units are on the market for prices from £175,000.

The three-bedroom penthouse has a private lift that opens directly into the unit and is believed to be the most expensive apartment currently on sale in Birmingham.

However, it has some way to go to top the city's most expensive as a flat in Concord House, the former Debenhams warehouse in Holloway Head,

In total, Galbraith House has six one-bedroom and 12 two-bedroom apartments alongside the 2,734 sq ft penthouse with eight units already sold.

John Tebbutt, managing director of Birmingham Properties Group and is leading the conversion, said: "This was a fantastic opportunity to revitalise a prominent building in an excellent location, flanked by two important city centre developments at Paradise Circus and Snow Hill.

"Birmingham's residential property market is particularly buoyant at the moment and there is a real need for premium city centre accommodation.
