The first phase of upgrade work at a Birmingham city centre office block has been completed.

City property group Hortons' Estate has carried out the work at the grade A Fifteen Colmore Row which has included new amenities for occupiers.

Phase one has seen the conversion of a former plant room to create a fully furnished business lounge on the top floor.

Redundant plant works have been removed and the space reconfigured to accommodate a new layout featuring a kitchen and teleconferencing facilities.

Externally, a new outdoor roof terrace has been created with breakout and entertainment space overlooking Colmore Row and Birmingham Cathedral.

A second phase of refurbishment work will include the installation of new lifts and the extension of the reception area.

Nina Meeks, management surveyor with Hortons' Estate, said: "We know the role of the office continues to evolve and that occupiers increasingly have a need for better spaces to work, socialise and collaborate.

"The creation of a stunning new roof garden and business lounge facilities has already improved the offering at Fifteen Colmore Row for both existing and prospective new tenants and has complemented the on-site amenities which range from secure bicycle parking to refurbished shower and changing facilities.

"We have exciting plans to further modernise the building in the months ahead."

Fifteen Colmore Row has five floors of office space and is home to occupiers including Dains Accountants and property agency Rider Levett Bucknall.
